Any mnemonic for case control study vs cohort study and how to identify which study to conduct or not?
COhOrt has two O's.
So, you are measuring two R's - Relative Risk.
Basically, in cohort study, you are following a large group of people for a long time in the same setting or with the same behavior and see if there is a disease associated with those things.
In other words, you follow a group of people and see if they will get a disease or not.
Case study - You are studying the disease and figuring out what caused it. So, you compare people with the disease (case) vs. people without (control) and see how the "case" got the disease. Aka using Odds Ratio.
Really great site!
